The Learning Center for Young Children (LCYC) is a play-based, parent-participation preschool. We believe that children learn, grow, and discover through music, art, drama, cooking, reading, and sensory exploration. LCYC teachers and staff provide a safe and nurturing environment filled with purposeful and developmentally appropriate activities and provide opportunities for hands-on exploration in all aspects of their classroom. Our focus on the whole-child approach emphasizes social-emotional development alongside cognitive skill and growth. Children are allowed and encouraged to use their freedom of expression as they navigate the world around them.

The relationship built between parents, teachers, and staff at the Learning Center for Young Children establishes the foundation for our school community. When parents invest in this community, it demonstrates to children that their education and self development is important and valued. Parent engagement plays a crucial role at LCYC by establishing the basis from which children can feel secure, accepted, and confident to fulfill their unique potential.

Class schedule:

Morning classes are from 9:15 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.
- Parent–child class for 18 months thru 2 years old: Fridays
- 2-year-olds: M/W/F, T/Th, or M–F
- 3-year-olds: M/W/F, T/Th, or M–F
- 4-year-olds: M–F

Extended day details:

– Extended day option: Until 2:30 p.m.
– Available to all ages
– Monthly sign-up or daily drop-in options

COVID-19 precautions:

We have several new procedures in place this year to help keep everyone safe, including curbside drop-off and pick-up, contactless sign-in and out, frequent cleaning and sanitizing, increased airflow and ventilation with new HEPA filters in the classrooms, as well as extra outdoor time in our outdoor classroom spaces.

Enrichment Activities:

None at this time. However, depending on COVID-19 restrictions, we may add outside specials. Typically, extended-day music and science programs for the 4-year-olds.

Minimum enrollment age: For 2-year-old program, must be age of class by Oct. 31 with special arrangements; for 3- and 4-year-olds, must be age of class by Sept. 1
